Primary Care Services

All performers, no matter their age, can benefit from experienced primary care physicians who are skilled in helping patients achieve their utmost health and well-being. At the Center for the Performing Artist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, our primary care team offers well-visits and appointments for any acute medical concerns the performer may have.

The performer may also benefit from specialized care for a wide range of conditions, including the “female triad,” which is a combination of disordered eating habits, low bone density, and irregular menstruation. As a performer, you may experience common medical issues, such as asthma, hypertension, and type I diabetes. The Center for the Performing Artist coordinates specialists from internal medicine, adolescent medicine, and pediatrics, as needed, for the comprehensive treatment of each performer.
