Complex Birth Control Management

We see many patients who may have been turned away from another doctor or a clinic because they did not know how to address the patient’s medical needs, or who have fears related to pain or discomfort, or who were unable to pay for their treatment. Here are some ways we can help.  

Birth Control Management for Patients With Preexisting Conditions

We will work with you to find a method of birth control that fits your lifestyle and unique medical needs. Many people living with a medical condition or problem have trouble getting any birth control. Providers can be hesitant to help fearing the birth control may cause problems with other medications or make things worse for your health. 

Our providers are highly experienced and coordinate with other specialists as necessary to make sure your birth control works and is safe for you. We have experience managing birth control for patients with epilepsy, heart problems, lupus, cancer, transplants, blood clots, bleeding problems, migraines, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, gastric by-pass, and many other conditions.

Intrauterine Device (IUD) Management

There are a variety of IUDs available, including Mirena, Skyla, Kyleena, Liletta and Paragard, and we will work with you to identify which one is the best fit for you and place it for you. If you have encountered past challenges, including if your provider could not place your IUD; the IUD is displaced, dislodged, or embedded and needs to be moved; or the IUD fell out, we will ensure that it is placed correctly and safely. We strive to make your visits, including IUD insertion, as pain-free and stress-free as possible, and will work with you to make sure you are comfortable every step of the way.

For patients who want to have their IUDs removed, we use the latest innovations in family planning care to make this process go as smoothly as possible. Our office has ultrasound and the proper set up needed to find and remove IUDs to ensure we can overcome any challenges that may arise.  We also discuss pain and anxiety ahead of time with each patient and make sure you are as comfortable as possible at every stage of the removal procedure.

Implant Management

Our team are experts in Nexplanon (implant) management who train other providers in best practices. We can talk about if the implant is right for you and order it and place it at our office.

We utilize specialized equipment to remove implants, no matter how deep, and have been successful even with patients who can’t feel their implant or when another provider was unable to remove it. We will work with you ensure you are as comfortable as possible when we take it out.

Tubal Ligation

Our patients can choose permanent birth control with a tubal ligation. We use Filshie Clips to do tubal ligation, allowing for going home the same day and short recovery times. Tubal ligation can be performed for any patients over age 21 and they do not have to have given birth. For patients who want to have this surgery done after a birth, we can help you get the paperwork ready and get a tubal ligation surgery planned at our hospital.
