What to Expect

The clinicians in the Division provide comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for any type of cerebrovascular diagnosis.

Before Your Visit

Upon making an appointment, staff will ask that you obtain any outside records that cannot be visualized via Epic/MyChart, and bring a physical copy of any imaging on a CD, as well as the final reports. As part of your appointment, the clinician will review all images and reports and perform a comprehensive history and physical examination.

Before or after your visit, the physician may determine that you will benefit from a diagnostic ultrasound to complete the assessment of your cerebrovascular disease.

Additional Specialty Care

Your clinician will develop personalized treatment recommendations, which may include referral to specialists that work closely with cerebrovascular disease patients, including:

  • Cardiology
  • Hematology
  • Physical medicine and rehabilitation
  • Ophthalmology
  • Neurosurgery

Follow-Up

Depending on your diagnosis, the clinician will determine if you need additional vascular neurology follow-up or visits with a neurologist or nurse practitioner from our team.

Care at an Academic Medical Center

As a teaching institution, we are committed to educating the next generation of stroke clinicians. You may be evaluated initially by a neurology resident under the direct supervision of a faculty member in the Division who will determine the diagnosis and best treatment plans.
