Dermatopathology

Because different skin conditions require specific treatments, quick and accurate diagnosis is an important part of your care. In some cases, it is necessary to perform laboratory testing to confirm the nature of a skin condition. In these cases, a dermatopathologist reviews samples on a microscopic or molecular level to determine exactly what you’re facing.

At ColumbiaDoctors, our dermatopathologists are experts in the examination and interpretation of a wide range of diagnostic tests, including skin biopsies. Physicians from across the tri-state area trust ColumbiaDoctors to provide reliable results as quickly as possible. Under the direction of Dr. Alejandro Gru and his team of board-certified dermatopathologists, the dermatopathology laboratory processes over 150,000 specimens per year. And for circumstances that require additional analysis, the service collaborates with the Surgical Pathology department as well.
