Since 2017, Columbia has been designated a Center of Excellence for Parkinson's Disease by the Parkinson's Foundation in recognition our excellence and leadership in research, comprehensive care, professional education, and patient outreach.
The Parkinson's Foundation is dedicated to making life better for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) by improving care and advancing research toward a cure, building on the energy, experience and passion of our global Parkinson’s community.
Training the Next Generation of Experts
As nationally and internationally renowned experts in the field of Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, in terms of both our clinical activities and our cutting-edge research program, we are often called upon to educate future leaders in the field. The presence of postdoctoral fellows on our practice team serves to enhance the patient care experience, since "teaching moments" frequently benefit patients' as much as students, in terms of gaining a greater understanding of their disorder.
Leading Center of Research
Columbia is also one of only five medical insitutions to be name a Parkinson's Foundation Research Center. All PF Research Centers are actively involved in interconnected PD research studies, ranging from basic science to applied science to clinical research in humans.
