General Diagnostic GI
Make an Appointment
Our team is here to help you make an appointment with the specialists that you need.
Gastrointestinal issues are common in children and often resolve without treatment. If your child is experiencing chronic or severe GI symptoms, a pediatric gastroenterologist can help determine the underlying cause of your child’s discomfort.
Our board-certified physicians are affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, continually ranked among the top hospitals in the nation for the treatment of childhood digestive conditions by US News & World Report.
We are dedicated to providing the best care for our patients in a caring, compassionate setting.
Conditions We Treat
Our experts provide diagnosis and treatment for children of all ages who are experiencing common GI-related issues, including:
- Constipation
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Gastroesophageal reflux
- Cow’s milk protein allergy
- Lactose intolerance
- Nausea or vomiting
- Feeding difficulties
What to Expect During Your Appointment
Your first appointment with a Columbia pediatric gastroenterologist will begin with a full exam and medical history, and we may schedule some tests that will help us determine the cause of your child’s symptoms. These may include blood tests, X-ray or another radiographic study, or minimally invasive endoscopic interventions. Blood tests can often be done the day of the visit, while other testing will need to be scheduled for another time. Our team may prescribe certain medications or dietary changes to help manage some conditions.
Your appointment may take some time, so that we can be sure to get all the information we need for an accurate diagnosis. You will also meet some of our nurses and staff who are all dedicated to making sure your child is comfortable during his or her time with us.
